The Society holds two Writing Retreats a year - one over a weekend (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon), usually held near Perth, the other over a week (Monday to Friday), usually held in the country.

The weekend retreat is fully catered by the venue.

On the week-long retreat, The Society provides breakfasts and lunches, and each attendee provides one meal for six people and the cooking and clean-up is shared on a roster basis. 

Workshops, discussion sessions and sharing of work is scheduled throughout the time, however, some may prefer to spend their time finishing their own projects in a quiet space. The retreat activities are optional, and there is plenty of time for socialising over a wine, cup of tea or favourite brew. Fun and friendship is the aim of both retreats. 

Costs range between $300 and $350. 

Expressions of Interest are usually called for months ahead of the event.
